Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Fetcha.
General
What is Fetcha?
Fetcha is a native Mac menu bar app that automates downloading files from web portals. It logs into websites on your behalf, navigates to invoices, reports, or other documents, and downloads them to a folder on your Mac.
It's designed for professionals who regularly need to collect files from multiple web portals—invoices from suppliers, royalty reports from publishing platforms, analytics exports from marketing tools, and more.
How does Fetcha work?
You configure a portal once by providing the login URL and your credentials. Fetcha securely stores your password in macOS Keychain.
When you trigger a fetch (manually or on schedule), Fetcha:
- Opens a browser session
- Logs into the portal
- Navigates to the download location
- Downloads the files
- Saves them to your chosen folder
What websites does Fetcha work with?
Fetcha can work with most websites that have a standard login flow. Common use cases include:
- Stripe billing portals (OpenAI, Anthropic, Vercel, and many SaaS tools)
- Utility and telecom providers
- Publishing platforms (Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Lightning Source)
- SEO and marketing dashboards (Moz, Ahrefs, SEMrush)
- Cloud services and hosting providers
Is Fetcha legal to use?
Fetcha automates actions you're already entitled to perform manually: logging into your own accounts and downloading your own data.
It's your data—Fetcha just makes collecting it less tedious. We're not scraping public websites or accessing data you don't have permission to access.
Security & Privacy
Is Fetcha secure?
Yes. Fetcha stores all credentials in macOS Keychain, the same secure storage your Mac uses for system passwords.
- Passwords are never stored in plain text
- Passwords are never transmitted to our servers
- Passwords are never logged
- All browser automation runs locally on your Mac
Do you have access to my passwords?
No. Your credentials are stored locally in macOS Keychain and never leave your Mac. We have no access to your passwords, login sessions, or downloaded files.
Can Fetcha handle two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Fetcha supports persistent browser sessions, so if a website remembers your device after initial 2FA verification, Fetcha can continue to access it without requiring 2FA each time.
For sites that require 2FA on every login, you may need to complete the 2FA step manually during the initial setup or periodically when sessions expire.
Technical
What Mac do I need to run Fetcha?
Fetcha requires:
- macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
- Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, or M4)
Intel-based Macs are not supported.
Why Apple Silicon only?
Fetcha is built natively for Apple Silicon to ensure the best performance and efficiency. Apple Silicon Macs offer better battery life and faster execution for the browser automation that powers Fetcha.
Does Fetcha run in the background?
Yes. Fetcha lives in your menu bar and can run scheduled fetches in the background. It's designed to be lightweight with minimal CPU and memory usage when idle.

How many devices can I install Fetcha on?
Fetcha is licensed for one device per licence. This is because Fetcha works best when installed on your primary Mac—the one where you manage your day-to-day work. Your credentials are stored in that device's Keychain, and scheduled fetches run reliably when your main machine is awake.
